Junior Achievement Company of the Year competition Launched

Junior Achievement, in partnership with Barclays Bank, has launched the Africa region JA Company of the Year competition.
The competition will be held in Accra from October from 22nd, 2011. In all, 21 teams from17 African countries which include Botswana, Mauritius, South Africa and Nigeria are expected in Ghana for the competition.
Student-created companies representing Ghana this year are from the Accra Academy High School and Adisadel College. JA students will present the results of their enterprise and learning experience and will appear before a panel of independent judges.
The competition is now conducted in every JA region around the world. It is a contest of business skills, ingenuity and innovation that focuses on the accomplishments of the African JA company programme by students between the ages of 15-19 years.
The Executive Director of JA Ghana, Mr. Jefferson W. Agbai, lauded the contributions of Barclays Bank  and FedEx for supporting the company programme across Africa; and through its trust in the programme, Barclays Bank led the way  to launch the 1st edition of the competition in 2010.
The programme is expected to be graced by the president and CEO of JA worldwide, Sean Rush, as well as global executives of Barclays Bank, FedEx, African Investor, Oracle and the international media.
The programme seeks to elevate the overall awareness of JA`s work in Africa and greatly contribute to the company´s efforts with the goal of reaching more African youth with experiential educational experiences that will impact their lives, their families, and their communities.
