First Ecowas-India Economic and Trade Forum

The Forum is a follow-up to the very successful First India-Africa summit held in New Delhi, India from 4 - 9th April, 2009. A major outcome of the Summit was the grant of over US$500 million for the next 5 - 6 years for specific projects and credit line of up to US$5.4 billion for regional projects.
The specific objective of the Forum is to mazimise the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows from India into ECOWAS countries on projects in the following sectors:-
i. Agro-Industries
ii. Healthcare/Pharmaceuticals (including Herbal medicines)
iii. ICT
vi. Energy
v. Natural Resources (excluding Oil and Gas) and
vi. Infrastructural Decelopment
As part of efforts to ensure the objectives is met and the Forum is organised successfully, the ECOWAS Commission has continued discussions with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.
The ECOWAS Commission is currently developing a compendium of relevant projects in the ECOWAS region for submission to the Indian investors ahead of the Forum.
In this regard, the AGI Directorate is calling on you to submit the profile of your project(s) that you would like the ECOWAS Commission to present to the Indian investors.
